If you’re looking to ‘look good’ for your radiation treatment graduation – as much as a fellow can – then head down Smyth Road from the General Hospital to First Choice Haircutters in the Elmvale Acres ‘Chopping’ Centre – ah, that would be ‘Shopping Centre’ of course!
I can’t believe that I found another ‘super smile’. They’re all around the the hospital!
I went out on Friday the 13th – of all days – to get my ears lowered at a nearby barber shop in anticipation of my upcoming graduation from 33 sessions of radiation therapy – more about this ceremony later.
Usually, getting your haircut is a pretty boring process – almost a snooze fest.
So, when I walked in the door, there was this beautiful smiling girl at the helm – Amanda. She took my name and in no time I was in the chair.
Well, what a small world!
Amanda was from Kemptville a few years ago – only 18 km from Merrickville – my current home town.
So, while snipping away the excess ‘locks’, we engaged in exchanging interesting news and tales about that part of the country, 80 km South of Ottawa.
Snip – talk – cut – laugh – snip …
In no time, we were out of time and out of breath and the job was done – I was a handsome lad once again – ready for my graduation next week.
Thanks to Amanda – and to Kathy the expert camera ‘man’.
